A social hobby played in most village greens, cricket is a popular team sport that doesn’t rely on brute strength or athleticism. Instead, it is a sport that encourages good character, honesty and camaraderie, and tends to end with a drink at the club bar afterwards.

Cons:

  • Games often last a very long time!
  • The rules are harder to learn than other sports
  • Hard to practise alone
  • Potential fallings-out with teammates
  • ‘Village cricket’ is never the highest standard
