With the demise of sending letters, the future of stamp collecting – philately – doesn’t look bright. But due to their small size, and the huge variety of available designs, stamps are one of the easiest things to collect.

Pros:

  • Stamps are small and easy to store
  • Most stamps are inexpensive
  • Most rare stamps gain value
  • Diversity: you won’t run out of stamps to collect!
  • It’s easy!
  • Educational benefits: history, geography & politics
  • It’s satisfying building up a collection

Cons:

  • You can never ‘finish’ collecting
  • It can sometimes be expensive
  • Stamps are fragile and easily damaged
