Cycling has been one of the fastest growing hobbies in recent years due to a health boom as well as public transport anxiety during the pandemic. Once you’ve learnt to ride a bike (the hard bit) you cycle just about anywhere!
Pros:
- Freedom: you can take your hobby anywhere
- Can be social
- A low impact exercise
- Good for cardiovascular fitness
- Helps weight loss and muscle gain
- Increases energy levels
- Helps you sleep better
- An alternative to public transport (and the cost of petrol)
- Quite a fun way to get fit
Cons:
- You need to learn how to ride a bike
- Risk of injury (from other road users)
- Expensive
- Requires a lot of ‘gear’ (bicycle, safety gear, lights, bike lock, Lycra etc.)
- Reliant on the weather
