Cycling

Cycling has been one of the fastest growing hobbies in recent years due to a health boom as well as public transport anxiety during the pandemic. Once you’ve learnt to ride a bike (the hard bit) you cycle just about anywhere!

Pros:

  • Freedom: you can take your hobby anywhere
  • Can be social
  • A low impact exercise
  • Good for cardiovascular fitness
  • Helps weight loss and muscle gain
  • Increases energy levels
  • Helps you sleep better
  • An alternative to public transport (and the cost of petrol)
  • Quite a fun way to get fit

Cons:

  • You need to learn how to ride a bike
  • Risk of injury (from other road users)
  • Expensive
  • Requires a lot of ‘gear’ (bicycle, safety gear, lights, bike lock, Lycra etc.)
  • Reliant on the weather
