Also known as ‘SUP’ (stand up paddleboarding), the hobby, like kayaking, lets you enjoy exploring lakes, rivers and the coast. Although slower than kayaking, it gives you a slightly better vantage point and is a better full-body workout.
Pros:
- It’s social
- Relatively easy to learn
- Good core strength workout
- A better full-body workout than kayaking (which just uses the upper body)
- You can enjoy it standing up, sitting down, kneeling
- Can be combined with yoga
- Go at your own pace
- Low risk of injuries
- Your dog can join
Cons:
- Reliant on the weather
- You’ll probably fall in at some point
- Not as fast as kayaking
- Requires more core strength than kayaking
