Paddleboarding

Also known as ‘SUP’ (stand up paddleboarding), the hobby, like kayaking, lets you enjoy exploring lakes, rivers and the coast. Although slower than kayaking, it gives you a slightly better vantage point and is a better full-body workout.

Pros:

  • It’s social
  • Relatively easy to learn
  • Good core strength workout
  • A better full-body workout than kayaking (which just uses the upper body)
  • You can enjoy it standing up, sitting down, kneeling
  • Can be combined with yoga
  • Go at your own pace
  • Low risk of injuries
  • Your dog can join

Cons:

  • Reliant on the weather
  • You’ll probably fall in at some point
  • Not as fast as kayaking
  • Requires more core strength than kayaking
