BMX has come a long way since children first used smaller bikes to imitate motorcross. It’s one of the most popular spectator events at Olympic Games, and its quite a versatile hobby: whether you’re into racing, streetstyle, or skateparks.
Pros:
- Usually considered one of the coolest sports
- Can be used as a mode of transport
- If you can ride a bike you’re already half way there
- No time limit and does not require a pre-determined ‘pitch’ or ‘field’ size
- It’s social, and is known for its friendly community
- Fitness: good for building muscle endurance & strength
- Boosts self-discipline, motivation, self-esteem and confidence
- Increases your bravery!
- Lots of skateparks around the country to enjoy it
- ‘Street’ BMX can be enjoyed just about anywhere
Cons:
- Requires patience and determination
- Minor injuries are fairly common
- In fact, you will probably hurt yourself every time you BMX
- Most BMX bikes do not have any brakes
- There will always be someone better than you!
