The main goal is to spot all of a certain type of rolling stock (i.e. trains), but it can also involve ‘bashing’ (travelling on) every section of track on certain lines. It can be addictive, so make sure you have a good packed lunch.

Cons:
- Not the most fashionable hobby
- Modern trains are much less interesting than steam trains

- Lots of hours can be spent on wet, rainy platforms
